Craving a bit of Colour
If you are fed up of neutral tones, you are in luck.
Fresh colours are big for 2019, and with the Pantone Colour of the Year being Living Coral, it’s easy to see why!
If you want to add warmth and a bit of a vibrant colour to cool rooms, then Pantone 16-1546, (the colours unique reference number), will certainly do the trick.
And it really feels like you are bringing the outdoors in, as this bright beauty is truly inspired by the living corals of the ocean, so dress up your windows, plump up some sumptuous new cushions and add a couple of distinctive signature pieces to complement, and you will feel like your living room has a beachy feel, even if you are a city dweller in a top floor apartment!
Sticking with eye catching colours, mustard yellow retains its top spot amongst the fashionista’s favourites.
Having enjoyed a renaissance last year, any shade of mustard yellow is another vibrant hue and is bang on trend for brightening up dark spaces; and looks great when used in blinds for the kitchen for example or if you are updating a dull bathroom that has seen better days.
Re-invent and Go Retro
Remember the truly brilliant Alison Steadman in Mike Leigh’s marvellous Abigail’s Party?
Or rather, do you remember the delectable geometric designs and bold shapes?
Of course, these designs and shapes go hand in hand with the bright colours we mentioned earlier and look truly knockout either as full-length curtains dressing rooms with beautiful big bay windows and high ceilings or equally as striking as a statement blind.
And to complement the look, get yourself down to the nearest vintage shop or car boot sale and pick up an original 70’s hostess trolley, complete with Teasmade, and retro cups and saucers.
Fantastically Flamboyant Florals
Pretty florals make a return for summer trends for curtains and blinds for 2019, and like the perfectly pretty perennial, getting the right floral design will be the gift that keeps on giving, year after year.
To stay one step ahead for summer 2019 again, choose bold patterns and don’t be afraid to experiment with colour. Remember you want to make a statement, so go for it.
Especially if you want simple tailoring and prefer to opt for roller blinds over vast swathes of material, opting for a floral print will add a certain richness to those who prefer to keep their clutter to a minimum, and their furniture sleek and neutral.
And if you are not blessed with a huge garden, or you are already fed up with the changeable weather the British summer can bring, going for a floral print can be really refreshing and bring a smile to your face on the wettest of days.
Pay Homage to the Industrial Revolution
So, you don’t do bold colour, you hate anything remotely floral and your idea of texture always reverts back to shiny metals or roughly textured red brick.
Go all out and pay homage to the industrial revolution with slate greys and granite design fabrics.
Keep it fuss free, with well organised lines, and a throw-back to a time which saw phenomenal growth in the steel and coal industries, synonymous with places like Sheffield and Barnsley.
This is not a style for the faint-hearted. It’s strong and it’s masculine, but don’t worry, if you want to add a splash of colour in your curtains or soft furnishings, opt for bronze or copper hues to add warmth and depth.
But remember to keep it minimal, less is definitely more with this trend if you want to create maximum impact with your interior design.
So, you heard it here first for hot trends in curtains and blinds for summer 2019. Loads of different ideas to choose from and a style to suit everyone’s taste, whether you like florals, bold prints, strong, vibrant colours, or designs reminiscent of the industrial revolution.
